Beeswax encaustic art workshop
Did you know that you could paint and make art with beeswax? This ancient art was used by the Egyptians to embellish their tombs and the Romans to decorate the walls of Pompeii. The beeswax is melted on a heated palette and mixed with pigments then applied onto a surface using a paint brush or palette knife. Paper and objects can be embedded into the wax and tools can be used to scratch into the surface a technique called scriffito.
